Instagram has introduced a long-awaited feature that allows users to rearrange posts on their profile grid, giving them full control over how their profile looks. Until now, posts appeared in strict chronological order, with only limited flexibility through pinned posts.
With this update, users can long-press any photo or video on their profile and move it anywhere within the grid. This means older posts can now be brought forward, while newer ones can be positioned based on aesthetic preference or storytelling style.
The feature is especially useful for creators, influencers, and brands who treat their profile as a visual portfolio. It allows them to highlight important content, organize themes, and create a more curated first impression for visitors.
Instagram says the goal is to give users more creative freedom and reduce the pressure of maintaining a “perfect” feed from the moment something is posted. The update is rolling out on both Android and iOS and is expected to reach all users gradually.
While the change is being welcomed by many, it also marks a shift in how profiles are experienced, turning them into fully customizable spaces rather than fixed timelines.
