Is “LinkedIn” slowly turning into the internet’s fakest platform?

For years, “LinkedIn” was seen as the internet’s most professional platform - a place for networking, hiring, and career growth. But now, many users online are starting to question whether the platform has slowly turned into something very different.
Critics argue that LinkedIn is no longer just about jobs and professional connections. Instead, the platform is increasingly filled with exaggerated success stories, motivational posts, fake productivity culture, and personal branding battles designed more for attention than authenticity.
Many users feel pressured to constantly appear successful, productive, and “inspiring” online. From dramatic workplace stories to unrealistic hustle culture advice, the line between professional networking and social media performance is becoming blurry.
Another growing criticism is the rise of “vanity networking” - where people focus more on collecting connections, likes, and visibility rather than building meaningful professional relationships. Some professionals also believe the platform rewards viral storytelling more than actual skills or experience.
At the same time, supporters say LinkedIn still remains useful for finding opportunities, networking with recruiters, learning industry trends, and building visibility in competitive industries. For freelancers, creators, and startup founders especially, the platform continues to offer strong career advantages.
The debate highlights a larger internet problem - when every platform becomes driven by algorithms, visibility, and personal branding, authenticity often becomes harder to find.
