CM Rekha Gupta rolls out big wins for youth: Free laptops & Olympic rewards!

In a move to bolster youth development and academic access, the Delhi government has greenlit a free laptop scheme for students and significantly raised cash incentives for Olympic medal winners. The decisions were announced following a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat.

Under the new policy, eligible students in government institutions will receive laptops, aiming to reduce the digital divide and support hybrid learning. Simultaneously, athletes who bring Olympic glory to India will now receive enhanced financial rewards - a step seen as a morale boost ahead of future international games.

Officials noted that these initiatives reflect the government's dual focus on academic equity and sports excellence. While the full implementation roadmap for the laptop scheme is expected soon, the increased cash awards for Olympians will be applicable starting this cycle.

The measures are part of a broader effort by the Delhi government to empower the next generation through education and sports.
