Just because it's homemade doesn't mean it's healthy! Nutritionist Shiny Surendran reveals that some of our go-to Indian breakfasts can secretly mess with your health if not done right.

 

Upma is mostly carbs with barely any protein or fiber. The fix? Switch to millet or ragi upma and throw in 50–70% veggies and some peas for a protein kick.

 

Poha feels light but is also carb-heavy. Use red rice flakes or millet poha, and add eggs or tofu to make it more balanced.

 

Smoothie bowls look nutritious but are loaded with natural sugars from fruits and dry fruits. This can spike your blood sugar fast. Pair it with an egg to slow things down.

 

The bottom line? Start your day with fiber and protein, not just carbs. A few smart tweaks can turn these worst breakfasts into real winners.
