At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, Apple unveiled iOS 26, marking a significant evolution in iPhone's operating system. Departing from its traditional naming convention, Apple has aligned its iOS version with the calendar year, introducing iOS 26 instead of the anticipated iOS 19.
One of the most striking features is the "Liquid Glass" design, inspired by Apple’s Vision Pro headset. This new aesthetic offers a more dynamic and translucent interface, revamping nearly all system visuals, including apps, buttons, and the Control Center.
iOS 26 also introduces "Apple Intelligence" , enhancing user experience with AI-powered features like real-time language translation in calls, messages, and FaceTime. Additionally, the system integrates with ChatGPT to provide contextual assistance based on screen content.
The update brings improvements across various apps, including Phone, Messages, Camera, and Wallet, along with a refined CarPlay interface to minimize distractions while driving.
iOS 26 is currently available in beta for Apple Developer Program members, with a public beta expected next month and a full release scheduled for fall 2025.
