Hindi is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world and is not limited to India alone. Due to migration, historical connections, and the Indian diaspora, Hindi is commonly spoken in several countries across different continents. In many places, it acts as a link language among Indian-origin communities and helps preserve cultural identity.
Nepal has the highest number of Hindi speakers outside India. Because of open borders, cultural similarities, and media influence, Hindi is widely understood and spoken, especially in the Terai region.
In the United States, Hindi is spoken by a large Indian immigrant population. It is mainly used within families, community gatherings, and cultural events.
Mauritius has a strong Hindi-speaking population due to its Indian ancestry. Hindi plays an important role in cultural traditions and festivals.
In Fiji, Hindi exists in the form of Fiji Hindi, developed by Indo-Fijians during the colonial period and still widely used today.
South Africa, Suriname, and Uganda also have significant Hindi-speaking communities, mainly descendants of Indian laborers and traders.
The United Kingdom has a growing Hindi-speaking population, especially among British Indians.
Conclusion:
Hindi’s global presence highlights India’s cultural influence and the strong connection of the Indian diaspora with their language and traditions.
