A seven-year-old boy, Taimur, tragically lost both hands on May 22, 2025, after making contact with a dangling 11,000‑volt power line near his home in Dankaur, Greater Noida. His father, Naushad Ali, had repeatedly flagged the hanging live wire to officials - including the junior engineer, sub‑divisional officer, and executive engineer of UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) - but says no action was taken.
Following the incident, an FIR was filed under Sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) and 125B (acts endangering life) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Four officials from the regional power department have been named in the complaint at the Dankaur police station ([turn0search1]).
Taimur required three surgeries at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital; doctors attempted to save his left arm, but both arms were eventually amputated below the elbow due to infection. His father lamented that the accident "ruined" his child's life and urged stringent penal action.
UPPCL has launched an internal enquiry, confirmed Chief Engineer Sanjay Jain, and has reportedly fixed the faulty line. Police investigations are ongoing to determine accountability, while local residents demand urgent safety audits to prevent future tragedies.
