Ever wondered why priests chant “Swaha” during yajnas and havans? This simple word has a deep spiritual meaning and power that goes beyond the ritual.
What Swaha means: The word comes from Sanskrit-“swa” (self) + “ha” (to offer), meaning “let it be offered”. Every time it is said, it signals that your offering is going to the gods through fire (Agni).
Swaha as a goddess: According to Vedic texts, Swaha is the wife of Agni, the fire god. She ensures that your offerings-ghee, grains, herbs, and havan samagri-reach the right deity. Chanting her name turns material things into divine energy and completes the mantra.
Spiritual power: Swaha is also a symbol of letting go of ego and surrendering to a higher power. Each chant represents a step toward spiritual growth, personal transformation, and inner peace. Without it, the mantra remains incomplete.
So next time you hear “Swaha,” remember-it’s not just a word; it’s a bridge between you and the divine.
