AI Chatbots transform India's Call Centers, displacing Human Workers!

India's $283 billion IT sector is undergoing a significant transformation as AI chatbots increasingly replace human workers in call centers and customer service roles.

Startups like LimeChat and Haptik are developing advanced generative AI chatbots capable of handling up to 95% of customer queries, enabling companies to reduce human staff by up to 80%.

This shift is particularly impactful in the business process management sector, which employs approximately 1.65 million workers. While AI adoption leads to job displacement, it also creates new roles such as AI coordinators and process analysts.

The Indian government remains optimistic, with Prime Minister Modi emphasizing job evolution over elimination. Training centers are refocusing on AI-related courses to meet the growing demand for AI skills.

Despite concerns about unemployment and job insecurity, India is positioning itself as a global AI hub, betting that technological disruption will lead to broader economic opportunities.
