In an exclusive chat with Moneycontrol, Nitya Ganapathy, founder of Nei Native, casts desi ghee as more than just a culinary staple — she frames it as a cultural ritual, a symbol of continuity, and a potent superfood. Her journey stems from childhood memories and the oral wisdom passed down by her grandmother, where ghee was comfort, healing, and belonging.
Ganapathy argues that tradition and science are complementary: Nei Native relies on artisanal methods and rigorous nutritional profiling to deliver ghee that is authentic yet meets modern health standards. Her approach places sustainability at the heart of production, from small-batch runs to refillable packaging — rejecting mass manufacturing in favour of integrity.
She also highlights India’s rich, yet under-explored ingredient landscape — superfoods woven into micro-climates and ancestral foodways, much of which has been forgotten. Nei Native’s storytelling is equally thoughtful, using simple, snackable content across Instagram, WhatsApp, and video formats to explain traditions with clarity.
For Ganapathy, the goal is ambitious: to reclaim India’s ancient nourishment wisdom, to ground it in trust and science, and to make ghee an essential part of mindful, modern living.
