Launched in 2024 by four Gurugram flatmates, Misfits began as casual house parties and board-game nights. As friends invited friends and word spread, the founders realised there was demand for structured social experiences beyond regular nightlife or movies. In 2025, the startup formalised this idea into a full-fledged “activities platform,” raising ₹5 crore in early funding to scale up.
Users download the Misfits app to find — or host — events such as sports, hikes, music, art, group outings, and community meetups. Instead of centralised, ticketed events, Misfits empowers individuals (called “club leaders”) to organise their own events. These leaders choose venues (arranged via Misfits partnerships), set participation rates (usually ₹200–₹400), and earn from ticket sales — with the platform taking a moderate commission.
As of now, the app has reportedly crossed 85,000 downloads and runs hundreds of meetups monthly. The startup’s earnings so far remain modest, but its model reflects a growing trend: a young, restless generation seeking curated experiences — flexible, affordable, and community-driven. If it scales well, Misfits could reshape how urban India socialises during weekends and free hours, turning “idle time” into a structured, social economy.
