According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks across several Indian states will be shut on May 1, 2025, for Labour Day and Maharashtra Day. These holidays celebrate the spirit of the working class and mark the formation of Maharashtra state in 1960.
States including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and West Bengal will observe bank holidays on this day.
That's not all - banks will also be closed on key dates like Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday (May 9), Buddha Purnima (May 12), Sikkim State Day (May 16) and Maharana Pratap Jayanti (May 29) in specific regions.
Bank holidays differ by state, so make sure you plan ahead to avoid last-minute money troubles.
