Tears & restraints: Indian student handcuffed and deported at Newark airport!

A disturbing incident at Newark Liberty International Airport has sparked global concern after a viral video showed a young Indian student being handcuffed, pinned to the ground, and escorted by police before deportation.

The footage, captured by Indian‑American entrepreneur Kunal Jain, depicts the student crying and reportedly speaking in Haryanvi, leading to a communication breakdown with officials.

Jain, who witnessed the episode, described it as a "human tragedy" and urged the Indian Embassy to intervene. In response, the Indian Consulate in New York confirmed it had contacted local authorities and expressed its commitment to assisting the student.

The Port Authority Police Department confirmed the student was considered a security risk and subsequently deported - his visa revoked - without clarifying whether the pinning was standard procedure . The incident has reignited discussions on the treatment of international students under stringent U.S. immigration protocols, spotlighting how language barriers and heightened security can escalate routine checks into traumatic ordeals.

Diplomatic scrutiny is intensifying, with public outrage growing over perceived mistreatment of foreign students abroad.
