Behind the blast: DNA uncovers the man behind Red Fort explosion!

Investigators have confirmed through DNA testing that Dr Umar un Nabi - a doctor from Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir - was the person behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort metro station this week. Forensic samples from bones, teeth and clothing found at the blast site matched DNA from the suspect’s mother, confirming his role in the incident.

In the wake of the blast, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced that Lal Quila metro station, located on the Violet Line and serving the Red Fort area, will remain closed until further notice for security reasons.  The explosion, which killed multiple people and injured dozens, is now being treated as a terror incident linked to a larger module.
Commuters and tourists are being advised to use alternate nearby stations such as Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate or Kashmere Gate until the security situation is reviewed.
