Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday (July 11, 2025) launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of attempting to "steal the elections in Bihar," just as it allegedly did in Maharashtra. Speaking at a public event in Odisha, Gandhi claimed that the BJP is manipulating democratic processes to maintain its grip on power, undermining the people's mandate.
Backing his remarks, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also alleged that the BJP-led central government is systematically trying to erase the foundational values of secularism and socialism from the Indian Constitution. “They are not just attacking opposition parties - they are attacking the soul of the Constitution,” Kharge said.
The remarks come ahead of a crucial election season in Bihar, where political dynamics remain volatile. The Congress leadership has repeatedly raised concerns over institutional independence and democratic integrity under the Modi government, warning that India's constitutional fabric is being steadily dismantled.
Both leaders urged citizens to stay vigilant and resist any undemocratic attempts to subvert electoral outcomes.
