Swiss luxury watchmaker Franck Muller is planning a major India push with two big moves - exclusive experience centres and a possible real estate venture. Known for its intricate watch designs, the brand wants to go beyond sales and create cultural hubs where collectors can interact, learn about watchmaking, and even share feedback for new collections.
Franck Muller is also preparing to launch a limited-edition collection inspired by Indian culture and religious icons during the festive season, marking a first for the global brand. According to CEO Erol Baliyan, India ranks among the top three consumer bases for the company in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Swiss watch exports to India surged 12.7% this year, even as major Asian markets declined, showing India’s rising luxury appetite. However, Baliyan highlighted challenges like 40% GST on imported watches, which pushes buyers to shop abroad.
The company is in active talks for its first Indian real estate project, likely in Mumbai or Delhi, aimed at redefining city skylines. Baliyan believes India is set to become a global luxury hub: “For India, sky’s the limit.”
