After facing criticism over controversial animated chatbot companions, Elon Musk's xAI has now announced Baby Grok - a child-friendly version of its AI assistant. Unlike its previous version, which was accused of being overly sexualized, Baby Grok will offer only safe, educational, and age-appropriate content for kids.
Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter), "We're going to make Baby Grok @xAI, an app dedicated to kid-friendly content."
Although further details were not revealed, the chatbot is expected to focus on learning, fun, and safe interaction, free from offensive or adult content. With parents expressing concern about children accessing chatbots like Grok or ChatGPT unsupervised, this move aims to offer a safer option.
Grok, which launched in 2023, gained attention for its unfiltered, sometimes rude tone. Baby Grok, however, will be toned down and simplified, possibly with parental controls.
Social media reactions were largely positive, with parents calling it a “much-needed” feature. This new version may become the first AI chatbot many kids are allowed to use-and safely learn from.
