The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections have set a new benchmark for civic participation. In the second and final phase of polling, the state achieved an unprecedented 67.14 % turnout by 5 pm — the highest since 1951. This surge in voter engagement underscores robust democratic energy across regions, particularly in areas such as Seemanchal, where turnout exceeded 73 %.
Parallel to the turnout figures, exit-polls released after voting unanimously tilt in favour of the NDA—a coalition chiefly comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)). Projections estimate the alliance securing somewhere between 130-167 seats out of the 243, well above the majority may be 122. Meanwhile, the rival Mahagathbandhan (MGB) led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) appears poised for 70-110 seats, while newcomer Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) is predicted to win near-zero.
The combination of high turnout and consistent exit-poll direction suggests strong momentum for the incumbent coalition and points to a decisive verdict in favour of the NDA—though official results are awaited on November 14.
