In Tonk, Rajasthan, a quiet revolution is transforming government schools-powered by Artificial Intelligence and the vision of IAS officer Saumya Jha. Faced with poor math scores, inconsistent attendance, and a shortage of consistent teaching, Jha launched the ‘Padhai with AI’ initiative in 353 schools.
The bilingual AI platform delivers real-time solutions to textbook questions, generates unlimited practice tests, and adapts to individual student needs. It’s helping students like Aman Gujar overcome the fear of math and even improve board scores by 10 marks!
Teachers benefit too-they now create exam-style questions with a single click. The initiative is bridging the gap between rural dreams and technical aspirations like AI, robotics, and science careers.
In just six weeks, the programme contributed to a 3% rise in math pass rates, with Tonk outperforming the state average. This AI-driven learning model is now set to expand into English and Science subjects too-marking a major leap toward equitable education.
