On June 7, 2025, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reaffirmed India's unwavering commitment to a 'zero tolerance' policy on terrorism, emphasizing that the nation will never equate perpetrators of terror with their victims. This statement comes in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.
Jaishankar expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for condemning the attack, underscoring the importance of international solidarity in combating terrorism.
In discussions with counterparts from Central Asian countries, Jaishankar highlighted the need for a unified regional approach to counter-terrorism, aligning with India's stance. Additionally, during his European tour, he engaged with foreign ministers from Spain, France, Germany, Japan, and Qatar, advocating for a global consensus on adopting a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism.
India's recent military response, 'Operation Sindoor', targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, further demonstrates its commitment to this policy. Jaishankar emphasized that the world must collectively show zero tolerance for terrorism to ensure global peace and security.
India's firm stance serves as a call to action for international partners to align their policies and collaboratively address the global threat of terrorism.
