The living legend: Is Lord Hanuman still watching us?

In Hindu tradition, Lord Hanuman is among the ancient Chiranjīvis (immortals), destined to live on Earth until the end of Kali Yuga. Hindu scriptures such as the Bhāgavata Purāṇa and Sapta Chiranjīvi Stotram explicitly name him among these seven immortals: Ashwatthama, Bali, Vyasa, Hanuman, Vibhīṣaṇa, Kripa, and Parashurama.

Valmiki’s Ramayana (Yuddha Kanda) recounts that after Ravana’s defeat, Rama granted Hanuman the eternal blessing: “As long as my story is told, you shall live.” His immortality is rooted in unwavering devotion (bhakti) and dedicated service.

Hanuman’s presence transcends the age of Rama. In the Mahabharata, he appears to Bhima as an elderly monkey, testing his strength - confirming Hanuman remained active centuries later.

Scholarly sources offer a deeper view: he is often identified as a Rudra avatar of Shiva, blessed across multiple texts like Skanda Purana and Narada Purana, emphasizing his divine origin and cosmic role.

Across centuries, devotees assert Hanuman continues to guard, inspire, and protect from hidden realms or subtle dimensions - symbolizing eternal devotion, courage, and righteous power.
