On 3rd September 1943, India witnessed a turning point in its freedom struggle when Subhas Chandra Bose took command of the Indian National Army (INA). His leadership transformed INA from a small force into a symbol of courage and defiance against the British Raj. Bose’s fiery call “Give me blood, and I shall give you freedom” inspired thousands of Indians to join the movement. Though the INA faced setbacks, its spirit shook British confidence and ignited nationalism across the country, paving the way for independence in 1947.
Meanwhile, on 3rd September 1939, the world was pushed into its darkest era when Britain and France declared war on Nazi Germany after Hitler’s invasion of Poland. This declaration formally marked the beginning of World War II, a conflict that lasted six years, claimed millions of lives, and redrew global power structures. The war not only led to the fall of fascist regimes but also gave rise to the United Nations, shaping international relations for decades to come.
Thus, 3rd September stands as a date of rebellion in India and global upheaval in the world.
