Before they became global powerhouses, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Burberry, and Prada were just small workshops with big ideas.
Louis Vuitton (1854) started as a Parisian trunk-maker creating stackable luggage for modern travellers. Georges Vuitton later expanded it worldwide, making its monogram a symbol of luxury.
Gucci (1921) began in Florence, founded by Guccio Gucci, who learned elite travel tastes while working in London hotels. Signature designs like the bamboo-handled bag made it instantly iconic.
Chanel (1910) was Coco Chanel’s millinery shop in France. Her revolutionary creations—the little black dress and Chanel No. 5 perfume—redefined elegance and modern women’s fashion.
Burberry (1856) was Thomas Burberry’s answer to Britain’s harsh weather. He invented gabardine fabric and created the practical trench coat, later popularized by WWI officers.
Prada (1913) started as a small Milan leather shop. Decades later, Miuccia Prada transformed it with minimalist design and innovative materials, turning it into a global trendsetter.
From practicality to luxury, these brands grew through craftsmanship, creativity, and bold innovation, proving that even modest beginnings can create world-famous empires.
