Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday dedicated new infrastructure and development projects worth over ₹60,000 crore from Jharsuguda, Odisha, and flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express connecting Berhampur with Udhna in Gujarat.
Among the initiatives unveiled were the commissioning of more than 97,500 4G mobile towers built with indigenous “swadeshi” technology, expansion and doubling of rail lines including Koraput–Baiguda and Manabar–Koraput–Gorapur sections, and a new 5 km flyover in Sambalpur. He also laid foundation stones for the expansion of eight Indian Institutes of Technology, expected to accommodate around 10,000 additional students.
This marks the sixth visit of the Prime Minister to Odisha in just 15 months since the BJP assumed power in June 2024. The strategic focus of the visit underscores the Centre’s priority for Odisha’s infrastructure, education, and connectivity, dovetailing national developmental ambitions with regional progress.
