Explore the various entry schemes to join the Indian Army!

Aspiring young candidates can apply to join the Indian Army through multiple entry schemes, each with its own age and qualification requirements. According to a recent release by NDTV, notable routes include:

  • National Defence Academy (NDA): For ages 16½–19½ years, with 10+2 and Physics, Chemistry & Maths for Air Force/Navy streams. 

  • 10+2 Tech entry: Also 16½–19½ years, requiring 10+2 with 60% marks in PCM and appearance in JEE Mains. 

  • Indian Military Academy (IMA) Non-Tech: For graduates, age 19–24 years. 

  • Short Service Commission: Non-Tech (19–25 yrs) for graduates; Tech (20–27 yrs) for BE/BTech in engineering streams. 

  • NCC Special: For men and women aged 19–25 years, graduates with 50% and NCC “C” certificate with specified service.

    Understanding these routes can help candidates pick the right path and focus on meeting eligibility thresholds early.
