Aspiring young candidates can apply to join the Indian Army through multiple entry schemes, each with its own age and qualification requirements. According to a recent release by NDTV, notable routes include:

National Defence Academy (NDA): For ages 16½–19½ years, with 10+2 and Physics, Chemistry & Maths for Air Force/Navy streams.

10+2 Tech entry: Also 16½–19½ years, requiring 10+2 with 60% marks in PCM and appearance in JEE Mains.

Indian Military Academy (IMA) Non-Tech: For graduates, age 19–24 years.

Short Service Commission: Non-Tech (19–25 yrs) for graduates; Tech (20–27 yrs) for BE/BTech in engineering streams.

NCC Special: For men and women aged 19–25 years, graduates with 50% and NCC “C” certificate with specified service.
