Satellite-internet provider Starlink, owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, has disclosed its pricing structure for Indian users as it prepares for a full commercial rollout. Its India-dedicated residential plan will cost ₹8,600 per month, with a one-time hardware kit charge of ₹34,000.
The package includes unlimited data, a 30-day free trial period, and a plug-and-play setup that users can self-install. Starlink aims to offer 99.9% uptime and reliable performance even in challenging weather — targeting remote or underserved regions where traditional broadband connectivity remains poor or unavailable.
While earlier rumours and media reports in mid-2025 had projected much lower introductory pricing (as low as ₹3,000–₹4,200 per month with ₹33,000 hardware cost), the final public pricing turned out significantly higher. This positioning suggests Starlink expects demand primarily from users who value satellite-backed reliability over cost — such as residents in remote/rural areas or regions lacking stable terrestrial internet.
Starlink’s announcement brings it a step closer to launching in India, though service availability remains contingent on regulatory clearance and activation of ground infrastructure. For many waiting users — especially in broadband-underserved zones — this may mark the beginning of a new connectivity era.
