Two Bengaluru innovators are transforming India’s textile sector with KOSHA.ai - a deep-tech solution using IoT, AI and spectroscopy to bring honesty back into handloom and recycling. Founded by Vijaya Kumar Krishnappa and Ramki Kodipady, the startup was born from a simple question: why do artisans creating premium sarees still struggle to prove authenticity?
Their first tool, WeaveSENSE, attaches to traditional looms and records real weaving data - rhythms, timestamps, and short clips - creating a tamper-proof digital trail. This helps customers verify originality, giving artisans better recognition and fair pricing.
Next came FibreSENSE, an AI-spectroscopy device that identifies fibre composition in seconds. For waste pickers, recyclers and brands, this accuracy solves a major problem: unreliable manual sorting. With clearer fibre data, recycling becomes efficient and circularity becomes doable.
In just seven months, KOSHA.ai has diverted 10,000 kg textile waste and prevented 35,000 kg CO₂ emissions, while empowering over 1,200 artisans nationwide. More than a tech startup, KOSHA.ai is restoring dignity, transparency and trust across India’s textile ecosystem.
