Google’s “Year in Search 2025: A-Z Trend Map” revealed the diverse interests that shaped India’s online behaviour. The report shows that Indian search patterns in 2025 were driven by entertainment, cultural events, AI tools, travel trends, and major news developments.

In entertainment, Aneet Padda and Ahaan Pandey, the lead actors of Saiyaara, topped Google’s search charts, along with global series like Final Destination, Kantara, and Squid Game. Emotional moments such as tributes to Dharmendra and Zubeeh Garg also saw high search surges.

Culturally, Maha Kumbh dominated public interest for weeks, while food searches focused on Thekua, Ukadiche Modak, and Idli, reflecting India’s regional food curiosity.

The biggest shift was in technology: despite ChatGPT’s popularity, Google Gemini became India’s top overall search. AI tools like DeepSeek, Perplexity, Gemini’s “Nano Banana,” and X’s Grok trended widely.

Travel preferences shifted too, with Phu Quoc in Vietnam emerging as a breakout destination, alongside rising interest in Pondicherry, Phuket, and the Philippines.

Social media saw viral trends such as the Haldi water trend, the ‘67 meme’, and humorous memes involving Arjun Kapoor and the Vishal Mega Mart security guard.

Among news events, searches spiked for Operation Sindoor, Pehelgam attack, questions like “What is ceasefire?”, and updates on air quality, earthquakes, Durga Puja, and Dandiya celebrations.
