Indians can now travel Visa-free to 59 countries!

India has made a significant leap in the Henley Passport Index, granting its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 59 destinations worldwide, according to the latest 2024 update. While India still ranks 80th globally, the increase in travel freedom marks a major improvement from previous years.

Countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Maldives, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka now offer either visa-free or simplified entry for Indian passport holders. This advancement reflects stronger diplomatic ties and evolving international travel policies that favor Indian tourists and business travellers.

The Henley Passport Index, which ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa, is widely used as a benchmark for global mobility. The top spot is jointly held by France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Singapore, with access to 194 destinations.

For Indian travelers, this means more spontaneous travel, fewer visa fees, and greater ease of movement - especially across Asia. Travel agencies expect a boost in outbound tourism as a result.
