Sonam Raghuvanshi, a 24 year old from Indore, was arrested on June 9, 2025, at Kashi Dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, accused of orchestrating the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. The couple, married on May 11, vanished on May 23 after checking out of a homestay in Nongriat village. Raja’s body, found on June 2 in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls, bore sharp weapon injuries. Meghalaya Police arrested three alleged accomplices- Raj Singh Kushwaha, Akash Rajput, and Vishal Singh Chauhan, who confessed to being hired by Sonam.

Sonam, who surrendered at Nandganj police station, claimed she was kidnapped and denied involvement, but police dismissed her story. She was sent to a one stop centre in Ghazipur after medical treatment. Her father, Devi Singh, insists she is innocent, demanding a CBI probe. Sonam is now in Meghalaya Police custody for further interrogation.
