In a major breakthrough in the probe into the deadly car explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi, investigators have recovered a red Ford EcoSport SUV - registered in the name of prime suspect Dr Umar Un Nabi - after an intensive manhunt. The vehicle, bearing registration DL10CK0458, was found abandoned in a farmhouse at Khandawali village in Haryana.
The recovery comes after investigators had already traced the explosion to a white Hyundai i20 that killed at least nine people and injured 20-plus near the fort. Police say the EcoSport may have been used for reconnaissance or logistics by the terror module, adding another layer of complexity to the case.
Authorities have alerted all Delhi police stations, border checkpoints, and neighbouring states including Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. At least five dedicated teams are involved in tracking the vehicle and assessing its role in the attack.
The discovery of a second car registered to a key suspect points toward a broader modus operandi involving multiple vehicles and indicates the scale and planning behind the operation. Investigations are now focusing on linkage between both vehicles, the timeline of ownership, and how the network functioned across state borders.
