Five essential habits to elevate your communication skills!

Good communication isn’t just about speaking - it’s about being heard and understood.  Becoming a stronger communicator means adopting several targeted habits.

First, prepare before you speak. Organising your thoughts helps make your message more transparent, rather than scrambling for words in the moment.
Second, avoid unnecessary words and overly flowery language - being clear and concise strengthens your message.
Third, watch your tone. Your tone can add power and emphasis to what you say, or it can inadvertently undermine your intent.
Fourth, listening is just as important as speaking. Practising active listening helps you truly respond, rather than just react.
Fifth, use confident body language - natural hand gestures, steady eye contact, and avoiding communication fillers like “um” and “ah”. Also, remove distractions like phones when you speak.

By working on these five pillars - preparation, brevity, tone, listening and presence - you’ll be able to connect more genuinely in conversations, whether casual or professional.
