No more Paytm or GPay? WhatsApp enters the recharge game!

WhatsApp is no longer just for chatting. It’s quietly turning into your everyday utility app. The platform has introduced a new feature that lets users recharge prepaid mobile numbers directly inside the app-no need to switch between multiple apps anymore.

With just a few taps, users can select their number (or someone else’s), browse recharge plans, and complete the payment using UPI, debit, or credit cards. It currently supports major telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vi, making it instantly useful for millions of Indians.

A new ₹ icon inside the app acts as a shortcut to payments, recharges, and other services like bill payments and metro ticket bookings.

This move shows a bigger shift-WhatsApp is slowly becoming an “everything app.” Instead of just messaging, it’s now trying to handle your daily digital needs in one place, making life faster, simpler, and more connected.
