In a strong diplomatic message, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday (June 23, 2025) declared that the recent aggression against Iran was "groundless." Addressing Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi during high-level Kremlin talks in Moscow, Putin voiced deep concern over escalating tensions, particularly following the U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
“The aggression towards Iran is baseless and unjustified,” Putin said, reaffirming Russia’s stance against the military pressure exerted by the West. He further added that Russia is ready to help the Iranian people, signaling a deepening alliance amid global instability.
Earlier, the Kremlin had issued a sharp condemnation of the U.S. attacks, describing them as reckless escalations that threaten regional and global security. The Fordow and Natanz nuclear sites, among others, were reportedly targeted, raising fears of broader conflict.
Putin’s remarks underscore a growing geopolitical realignment, with Moscow and Tehran positioning themselves against Western influence. As the world watches closely, this show of solidarity may reshape power dynamics in the Middle East.
