OpenAI has officially released ChatGPT 5, its most advanced AI model yet—now replacing all previous versions with a unified system featuring automatic query routing for faster or deeper responses as needed. The model delivers significantly improved reasoning, coding, and factual accuracy while reducing hallucinations. It also introduces creative “personalities” and integrations with Gmail and Google Calendar to enhance user interaction.

The rollout spans multiple tiers: Free users benefit from basic GPT-5 accessibility but face message caps (such as 10 messages every 5 hours and one “Thinking” message daily), after which they are downgraded to the lightweight “Mini” model. Plus users enjoy higher quotas and access to dedicated GPT-5 Thinking with up to 200 messages per week. Pro, Team, and Enterprise subscribers unlock near-unlimited access - including the premium GPT-5 Pro variant - for complex, high-volume tasks.

While OpenAI positions GPT-5 as a “PhD-level expert in your pocket,” CEO Sam Altman acknowledges it still lacks full artificial general intelligence.
