Solar Eclipse 2025 tonight - The Truth about food myths!

A partial solar eclipse - the last of 2025 - is expected on Sunday night, September 21, peaking early September 22 according to Indian Standard Time. The eclipse begins at 10:59 pm IST, peaks at 1:11 am IST, and ends at 3:23 am IST. While up to 85% of the Sun may be obscured in regions where visible, India will not be privy to the display

As with many eclipses, traditional beliefs warn against eating or drinking during the eclipse, citing risks like food contamination or exposure to negative vibrations.  However, nutrition experts have stepped in to clarify: there is no scientific basis for these fears. Light, nourishing foods are perfectly safe.

Accordingly, dietitian Shilpa Arora suggests sticking to gentle and easily digestible options like bananas, coconut water, light liquids, juices, or mild shakes during this time.  So while cultural preferences may persist, science supports comfort, not restrictions, when it comes to eating during the eclipse.
