Can Zoho truly dethrone Microsoft in the Global software arena?

When a homegrown company dares to challenge Microsoft, it’s bound to spark curiosity. That’s exactly what Sridhar Vembu, founder of Zoho, has done. He believes Zoho is the only company in the world with a product suite broad and deep enough to rival Microsoft.

From word processors to spreadsheets, cloud storage to video conferencing, Zoho has quietly built replacements for nearly every Microsoft tool. Its “Zoho Workplace” integrates mail, chat, documents, and storage, designed as a unified alternative to Microsoft 365. To ease migration, Zoho even offers step-by-step transition paths for businesses that want to move away from Microsoft.

What makes Zoho different? Unlike Big Tech giants, Zoho has grown without venture capital, serving over 100 million users worldwide while investing heavily in R&D, cloud, and AI. The company also carries the “Made in India” tag proudly, strengthened when India’s IT Minister recently switched to Zoho.

Still, dethroning Microsoft is no small task. The Redmond giant dominates workplaces globally and has decades of enterprise trust. But with growing dissatisfaction over high costs and complexity, Zoho’s challenge may find surprising traction.

The big question remains, can Zoho actually topple Microsoft’s throne?
