Want cleaner air at home without fancy purifiers? NASA has the answer-and it's green! In 1989, a NASA study identified indoor plants that remove toxic air pollutants like formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene-common in paints, plastics, and furniture. These plants don’t just look pretty, they actively improve air quality and mental well-being.
Leading the list is the Snake Plant, known for surviving neglect and removing multiple toxins. The elegant Peace Lily filters ammonia and adds a touch of class. For tropical vibes, go for the Bamboo Palm, which humidifies dry air. English Ivy fights plastic-born toxins, while the Red-Edged Dracaena makes a bold visual statement.
Surprisingly, even the colorful Florist’s Chrysanthemum is a powerful detoxifier. Weeping Fig, though fussy, rewards you with formaldehyde-free air and timeless charm.
Experts recommend 1–2 large plants per 10 square meters to feel the effects. These plants not only purify the air but also lift your mood, reduce stress, and make your home feel fresher and more alive.
