WhatsApp is stepping up its security game with two new safety features to help users identify scams before they happen. When someone not in your contacts invites you to a group chat, you'll now see a "safety overview" before entering—showing who created the group, member count, and whether any invitees are known to you. Notifications remain muted until you explicitly choose to stay helping you avoid malicious traps in group invites.
On the one-on-one chat front, WhatsApp is testing contextual pre-chat alerts—warning you when starting a conversation with someone outside your contacts. These alerts offer added info about the sender to help spot potential scams early.
