Shivratri 2025: Important Fasting Rules & Timings for Ashadha Month!

Masik Shivratri, observed monthly on the Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha, holds deep spiritual significance for Lord Shiva’s devotees.

While there are twelve Masik Shivratris each year, Maha Shivratri and Sawan Shivratri are considered the most significant.

This year, the Masik Shivratri for Ashadha falls on June 23, 2025. The Chaturdashi Tithi starts at 10:09 PM on June 23 and ends at 06:59 PM on June 24. The Nishita Kaal Muhurat for Lord Shiva’s puja is from 12:03 AM to 12:44 AM on June 24.

Devotees observing the fast begin preparations a day prior by consuming only one meal. On Shivratri, after taking an evening bath, devotees offer prayers throughout the night, staying awake and worshipping Lord Shiva during the Nishita Kaal.

The fast is broken after sunrise on Chaturdashi Tithi. Fasting on Masik Shivratri, especially if it falls on a Tuesday, is believed to bring immense blessings.
