Vitamin D is essential for strong bones and immunity, but taking high doses for a long time can actually harm your body. Unlike water-soluble vitamins, Vitamin D is fat-soluble, which means it stays in your system and can build up over time.
One of the biggest risks is Hypercalcemia, a condition where too much calcium accumulates in the blood. This can lead to kidney stones, kidney damage, and even heart rhythm problems.
Long-term overuse may also cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, weakness, frequent urination, and confusion. These signs are often ignored in the beginning but can become serious if intake continues unchecked.
Another issue is the false sense of safety. Many people assume supplements are harmless, but taking doses far above recommended levels can create long-term health complications.
The key is balance. Vitamin D is beneficial when your body needs it, but excessive intake without medical advice can backfire.
In simple terms, more is not always better-especially when it comes to supplements that quietly accumulate inside your body.
