Air India has announced that it will progressively resume flights to and from West Asia starting June 25, as airspaces in the conflict-affected region begin to reopen. The airline also plans to reintroduce routes to Europe, with services to North America and Canada following shortly thereafter.
In a statement, Air India emphasized its commitment to passenger safety, saying: “Air India will continue to avoid airspaces assessed as unsafe at any given time.” The announcement comes in the wake of widespread airspace closures over Iran, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Qatar due to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, which had previously led to cancellations and widespread rerouting of flights.
Indian carriers like IndiGo have already begun resuming Middle East operations as airport openings stabilize. However, some delays or cancellations may continue due to extended flight times and rerouting quirks. Air India reiterated that it will adapt dynamically to aviation authority advisories and evolving runway safety conditions.
As regional diplomacy edges forward and airspace access improves, Air India’s phased strategy aims to restore connectivity while prioritizing both security and reliability for travelers.
