Ghaziabad is all set for a major facelift with the proposed Hindon Riverfront Development Project.
Efforts have intensified to construct a scenic riverfront along both sides of the Hindon River, modeled after Lucknow’s Gomti Riverfront. As per the initial estimates, the project may cost around ₹1,000 crore.
The irrigation department has already prepared a preliminary report, and Ghaziabad MP Atul Garg is actively coordinating with the Jal Shakti Ministry.
According to MP Garg, the central government will bear 50% of the cost, while the Uttar Pradesh government and NCR Planning Board will fund the rest.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) will also contribute.
The riverfront will stretch from Karhera Bridge to Hindon Barrage railway line, including beautification of the Harnandi River.
Plans include boating facilities, children’s parks, parking spaces, and musical fountains, aiming to boost tourism, enhance urban beauty, and provide better recreational spaces for residents.
