Indian cricket sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal etched his name in history on July 4, 2025, during the third day of the second Test at Edgbaston. At just 23 years and 188 days, he matched the record held by legends Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag by reaching 2,000 Test runs in only 40 innings, becoming the joint-fastest Indian to the milestone .

Notably, Jaiswal achieved the feat in only his 21st Test match, overtaking Sunil Gavaskar’s long-standing record of 23 matches - marking a significant milestone in his young career . He reached the landmark with a stylish boundary in India’s second innings.

His blistering Audition at Edgbaston first featured a fluent 87 in the first innings, followed by a swift 28 off 22 balls to seal the record. This places him second-youngest among Indians to the milestone, behind only Sachin Tendulkar.

Joining the ranks of Dravid and Sehwag so early signals Jaiswal's rise as one of India’s most promising red-ball talents. With form, timing, and technical maturity well in evidence, cricket fans are watching eagerly as he cements his place among the national greats.
