Cloud Seeding shows wins in UAE & China - But fails in India’s Capital Trials!

Cloud seeding - dispersing particles into clouds to stimulate rainfall - has produced impressive gains in some environments and disappointing outcomes in others. For example, United Arab Emirates reports rainfall increases of 10 – 30% in arid zones thanks to its concerted cloud-seeding programme. Likewise, China claims increases of up to 15% in precipitation in targeted areas.
In stark contrast, the recent trial by Delhi’s authorities yielded only trace rainfall (0.1–0.2 mm) during seeding sorties - the initiative was deemed a failure due to low humidity and unsuitable cloud conditions. Experts stress that the effectiveness of cloud seeding is highly dependent on favourable atmospheric conditions. Absent sufficient moisture or cloud thickness, even well-funded operations may yield negligible results. The divergent outcomes underscore that while cloud seeding can work under the right conditions, it is not a dependable standalone solution for drought or pollution-related rainfall needs.
