New Delhi’s recent car-blast investigation has uncovered a chilling terror plot centred around a doctor-led module allegedly tied to Jaish-e-Mohammed. Investigators report the group had planned six simultaneous blasts across the Delhi-NCR region on December 6 — the 1992 anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.
The module, reportedly involving medical professionals working in and around Faridabad, is said to have followed a structured, five-phase plan: forming the network, sourcing explosives (including roughly 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate), manufacturing IEDs, distributing them across operatives and executing the final blasts. Arrests and raids triggered the car explosion near the landmark Red Fort on November 10, which investigators believe may have been a premature strike after some members panicked.
The motive is explicitly described as revenge for Babri Masjid’s demolition, a long-standing rallying cry from Jaish-e-Mohammed. The foiled plan highlights a troubling new trend: radicalised professionals leveraging covert networks and sophisticated logistics to target symbolic dates and locations in India’s heartland.
