Flying with mangoes this summer? Avoid this common mistake!

Good news for mango lovers - you can usually carry mangoes on domestic flights in India. As summer travel increases, many passengers are flying with boxes of Alphonso, Dasheri, Langra, and other seasonal favourites while visiting family or returning home.

Experts say mangoes are generally allowed in both cabin and check-in baggage, but proper packing is extremely important. Soft or overripe mangoes can easily get crushed, leak juice, or damage other luggage during travel. Many travellers prefer carrying them in sturdy boxes or tightly packed cartons to keep the fruits safe during flights.

Passengers should also make sure their luggage stays within the airline’s weight limits. While small quantities for personal use are usually not a problem, larger boxes may need to go into check-in baggage instead of cabin luggage. Travellers are also advised to avoid carrying cut mangoes or liquid mango products inside hand baggage because airport liquid rules may still apply.

The topic has become especially popular online during mango season, with many travellers sharing tips on safely carrying the “king of fruits” without ruining clothes, bags, or luggage during flights.
