A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran appears to be holding as of June 25, following a 12‑day conflict ignited by Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—on June 13. The U.S. later joined with “Operation Midnight Hammer,” deploying bunker-buster bombs via B‑2 bombers and missiles against Tehran-linked enrichment facilities.
President Trump proclaimed that the strikes “completely destroyed” Iran’s nuclear program, but a Pentagon intelligence report from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) determined that the impact merely delayed the program by a few month. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu called the outcome a “historic victory,” while Iran’s President Pezeshkian framed the ceasefire as a win for constitutional rights.
Tensions spiked mid-ceasefire: Iran launched missile salvos at Israel just before the truce took effect, killing four in Beersheba, prompting Israeli retaliation—including strikes near Tehran—before Trump admonished both sides to stand down. The truce has led to airspace reopening, eased oil prices, and preliminary U.S.–Iran peace talks described as “promising” by envoy Steve Witkoff.
