Free electricity in Bihar! CM Nitish drops big promises ahead of polls!

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on Thursday that domestic consumers will receive free electricity up to 125 units starting August 1, benefiting 1.67 crore families statewide.

The announcement, made via social media, includes plans for rooftop solar installations over the next three years, potentially generating 10,000 megawatts of solar energy. Under the Kutir Jyoti scheme, the government will fully fund solar plants for extremely poor families.

This pre-election promise follows other announcements including teacher recruitment for one lakh positions and job opportunities for one crore youth by 2030. RJD's Tejashwi Yadav had previously promised 200 free units, with RJD spokesperson claiming Kumar acted under opposition pressure. Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary will reveal implementation costs later.
