India’s golden voice turns 52 today. From lending his voice to soulful romantic tracks to patriotic anthems, Sonu Nigam has remained timeless. His journey began with a song for the 1990 film Janam (unreleased), followed by his TV debut with Hum To Chhaila Ban Gaye. But it was Sandese Aate Hai from Border that skyrocketed him to national fame.
His versatility spans languages - from Hindi and Bengali to Tamil and Odia. Whether it’s the heartbreaking Kal Ho Naa Ho, the groovy Yeh Dil Deewana, or the tender Main Agar Kahoon, Sonu’s voice has been a part of every Indian’s life. Gen Z, too, is falling under his melodic spell.
Awarded the Padma Shri, Sonu isn’t just a singer - he’s an emotion. Today, we celebrate a voice that defined generations and continues to echo in playlists, memories, and hearts.
